Inspirational Men & Woman

Born in 1978 - she begin playing the piano at 3 and violin at 5.  Took the world by storm with her techno classical voilin playing in her mid teens.   She released her first fusion album and I was really taken by her music and her album The Volin Player.  At the age of 25, she was already a superstar in her own rights.

Born in Singapore.. maybe that’s the first reason why i liked her so much.. because I’m from Singapore too.  And of a thai father and a Chinese mother.  After her parents separated and married an Englishman, they moved to England.  Vanessa Mae grew up in London and is a British citizen - is one of the most talented musician I’ve come across - if you haven’t listen to her play now is the time.

Annie Rolins Gale does not have any jobs in administration but she was a very intelligent woman with academic ability, born in Englad, she is a political activist and an Alderman.    Annie passed the Oxford Entrance Examination in 1890.   We all know that women during those times ere not able to become students at Oxford, so she helped run the family business instead and got married - like what most people expects of women folks during those time.   In 1912, with their two young sons, they migrated to Canada.

Annie organized Canada’s first Women’s Ratepayers’ Association and after women in Alberta gained the right to vote in 1916, she accepted the group’s invitation to run in 1917 city council election in Calgary.  At a time when there were no women in government across Canada.  Annie managed to win a seat too - now that must have gone down in history eh.

Annie served for three terms as an alderman, though she was unable to win a seat in 1921 provincial election.  In 1923, Annie and her husband moved to Vancouver, where they lived out the rest of their lives.

Margaret Duley born in 1894 and died in 1968 just shortly after i was born graduated from college and went to England in 1910 with a father for a wedding where you continued to stay for 4 years.  You and I know that in those times .. traveling was quite different from what it is for us now, as different as our furnace filters ..?? wait a minute.. did they have furnace filters back then..??

Anyhow.. when Margaret returned to Newfoundland where she was orginally from, she took to writing and became the first Newfie writer and not only that she received international attention for her writing.  With 5 novels, a non fiction book, a number of short stories, poems, radio broacdcast scripts and volumes of correspondence to her credit.. you would think that Margaret will be a well know novelist in her time.  Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1955 and fount it until her death.

Everyone knows who J.K. Rowlings is .. i’m sure.  Irregardless if you have kids or not, this British writer and author is too famous not to know.  She is the one who is responsible for bringing you and your kids .. the fantasy series of Harry Porter.

A networth of $1 billion, J.K was not always rich… in fact was a single mom on welfare while finishing her first Harry Porter story.  I even heard that she had to write the book in a cafe.. because she didn’t have money for power and heat in her apt.   And now.. see where she is.. living from welfare to becoming a multi millionaire and all within a short 5 yrs.   I wouldn’t mind spending 5 yrs of hard work.. and thereafter be as successful as J.K. Rowling.. !!  see good ppl do get good things eh.

Sarah Brightman is mystical.  Born in 1960, older than myself but definitely better looking and more successful than myself.  And she has the million dollars voice.. that i want.  She sings Soprano and classical music and if you’ve heard Sarah Brightman sing live in concert, you will know why she is my inspiration.  I first saw Sarah Birghtman when she was in her ex-husband’s Phantom of the Opera, she certainly had changed since i first saw her.  More confident and certainly a lot more lovelier.

After her divorce, she became even more popular and even though some thought she wouldn’t be as popular as she was when she was with Andrew Webber, she proved them all wrong.  Sarah Brightman has a network of US $42 million.. and because of her. .i had the courage to walk out of a bad relationship.  Thank you Sarah..!!! watching you on stage even lovelier than when you were married that year.. brought me back to my senses - that one donch need a man .. to become successful.

Princess Diana, also known as Diana Spencer was the first wife of Prince Charles of Wales. A fairy-tale Cinderella story, where a commoner married the Prince came true. It was said.. that Princess Diana was into becoming a princess since she was young. There was absolutely no scandal to her past.. making her the perfect choice.. for being the Princess of Wales.

She had two sons, Princes William and Henry .. both who are in their 20s now, are second and third in line to the thrones of the UK. From the very minute of her engagement.. Princess Diana became the very public figure. She was well loved.. she was focus.. even though she had trouble from the minute she married Prince Charles.

After her divorce, we didn’t think that anything bad was gonna happen to Princess Diana, and when her sudden death in a car crash was the most tragic thing that happened not only to England but to the rest of the world who had grown very fond of Princess Diana. The prolonged show of public mourning and responses to Diana’s life and legacy is a mixed of popular fascination.

The Princess of Wales became very well known for her support of several charity projects since the 1980s. This stemmed naturally from her role as Princess of Wales—she was expected to engage in hospital visits where she comforted the sick and in so doing, assumed the patronage of various charitable organizations—and from an interest in certain illnesses.

In 1987, when so many still believed that AIDS could be contracted through casual contact, Princess Diana sat on the sickbed of a man with AIDS and held his hand. She showed the world that people with AIDS deserve no isolation, but compassion and kindness. It helped change the world’s opinion, and gave hope to people with AIDS.  She had exquisite taste not only in fashion .. but furniture as well.

How can one not be inspired by Phil Collins right..??  afterall.. he is one of the best live singer i’ve ever gone to see.  Not even Jim Brickman can beat his charisma.  But that would be another story for another day.  Still don’t get it..?? hehe!! that’s because you haven’t seen Phil Collins performed live yet.

Born in 1951 in London, Phil Collins is a muscian, singer and song writer.  Phil Collins began his career as a drummer and most of his songs .. are about lost love.  I wonder sometimes.. if he has a broken heart every other year.  Phil Collins is also in some movies as well.. and especially movies from Disney.. makeover voices.  If you’ve seen Phil Collins in tuxedo you will probably be like me.. and swoon.

One of the very few lady Prime Minister in around the world, Margaret Thatcher was well know for being a catalyst who set in motion a series of interconnected event. Margaret Thatcher played a part in all those transformations, and it is not easy to see how any would have occurred without her.

Born in 1925, she played a huge role even in her young life. She studied on scholarship, worked her way to Oxford and took two degree in chemistry and law. Her fascination with politics led her into Parliament at the age of 34, when she argued her way into one of the best Tory seats in the country. Her quick mind and faster mouth led her to be one of the most statutory woman at the age of 44. And the rest was history.

Anita Roddick is synonymous with The Body Shop, anywhere you find a Body Shop.. be it in the States, in Asia.. or in Canada… or even in Switzerland.. people will know the name Anita Roddick.  The founder of the Body Shop chain.. of beauty products.. this lady.. is a dynamic force.. and the first businesswoman to introduce beauty products that does not use animal for testing.  No cruelty to animal is what made the Body Shop famous.

The Body Shop became a big hit in Asia.. in the late 80s.  Starting small store as an income for herself and daughter.. very quickly.. Anita expanded to more than 700 stores all over the world. Heavily involved in the environmental issues.. every body shop carried that concept.. even till now.. after L’oreal bought over the whole franchise.  A very amazing lady.. with a great business acumen.. who would know that Body Shop grew so huge and famous.. from a small little store in a english village in 1974.

I grew up watching Elizabeth Taylor.. because of my mother’s influence. Some 30 yrs ago.. Elizabeth Taylor.. was very famous then. A 2 time Academy award winning English American actress, she is not only known for her beauty but her acting skills. Her many marriages .. and 2 times to the same actor.. actually made her a more famous star. A great actress right up to her golden years .. she is a larger than life celeb.. who created news everywhere she went. Named the Greatest Female Stars of All Time .. by the American Film Instead, Elizabeth Taylor… did things that no one from her century would think of doing.
