Times named Jorge Ramos as one of the 100 most influential people around the world. Well known for speaking up and for the immigrants , you can count on Jorge Ramos to right the wrong. Born in Mexico but is an American now , Jorge Ramos is a journalist and author.
One very notable interview he had was with President Obama about immigration. He confronted him on his broken promises and in the meantime, letting him know because of him, many latino families were put out and broken.
Telling the President that a promise is a promise and that he broke his promise was definitely a very brave thing to do ? But Jorge Ramos claims that he is not afraid to confront and find out the truth for the people. My Hero !
When I saw an interview that Jorge Ramos did with times, I wished that our journalist back home and here in Canada would be more like him. Instead of just reporting what they are fed, I wished they would go out and question/s the information given to them.
Our journalist here in Canada and back home in Singapore are not journalist, yes, they are reporters but no journalist. A true journalist finds out the true, a true journalist brings the truth to its people and not just report the information that were given to them. For all those reporters who are doing just that, I say shame on you. Take a page from Jorge Ramos.
Ben Bradlee was best known as the Legendary Watergate editor. When I read that he passed away last month, I was quite sad. What a great lost , an amazing man he was but he had been suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia for the longest time.
Harold Hamm came from humble beginnings and with only a high school diploma, you must be wondering how he became one of the most successful and richest man in USA. His net worth is $18.7 billion and is the 76th richest man in the world. I’m sure you and I would like to know how he did it. Currently 68 years old Mr Hamm is a entrepreneur and best known for his involvement in oil and gas.
Coming from a huge family, his parents were cotton share croppers and only a high school diploma, Mr Hamm worked his way up from pumping gas and car repairs to owning his billion dollar company. Very impressive right? how many of us can come from nothing and becoming one of the richest man in the world. No easy feat and whatever he had been doing or is still doing , I would want to know the secret too. Mr Hamm is also a huge contributor of a diabetic center in Oklahoma as he himself has Type 2 diabetes. His company is also a major oil distributor/producer.
Born in 1917 and being a Civil Right Activist during those time must say something about this lady here. She was one of the few black woman who registered to vote during the 60s and like I said before, black people didn’t vote during those time. In those days, you have to have a lot of courage to stand up for not only yourself but your fellowmen.
Fannie Hamer dedicated her life to fight for civil rights, she worked tirelessly with American African students to fight racial injustice. She was beaten by the white people, threatened and arrested as well as shot at. She was beaten up by the police during an arrest that one of her kidney permanently failed. Hamer not only fought for civil rights for the minority but also helped the poor by building up childcare centers as well as bringing in more opportunities to the black people in Mississippi.
Even when she was diagnosed with cancer, Hamm still continued her fight as brave as she can. She fought for everyone even till the end and without activists like her, the black people wouldn’t be where they are now.

Inspired by Lars Ulrich, the nephew wants to be the next Lars Ulrich and wants a classic Sabian AAX Omni Ride 22″ at musician’s friend for his Christmas present. But who could blame the young nephew after seeing Dannish drummer Lars Ulrich perform with the group Metallica.
Lars Ulrich wasn’t a born drummer, in fact he was to become a tennis player but when he moved to Los Angeles, he knew that music was for him and not tennis. Born in Denmark, Lars Ulrich’s life took a 360 degree change at the young age of 16. Metallica is still very well known not only to the older generation but also the young.

C.K. Tang was one of the earliest retail entrepreneur in Singapore – he founded the Tang department store and was known as the pioneer in retail marketing and was said to be the force or making one of Singapore’s busiest shopping district where it is now. The Tang departmental store had been in business forever and they were not only bold in their marketing, they also believed in giving their customers the best. The Tang departmental store not only houses a cafe/restaurant – it also has a basement full of food where one can buy as well while shopping for your clothes. If only they can get small burlap sacks online and use them for packaging, I say that would have been the best for saving the planet.
C.K. Tang started his retail business in a rickshaw selling his wares from house to house and when he saved enough money, he then opened a small departmental store. With a very smart business acumen, Mr Tang bought a piece of land in now the most popular spot in Orchard Road and despite the fact that it was facing a cemetery, he was right about those military wives from overseas.
Tang Departmental store didn’t stay that way, they expanded to own a hotel right beside the departmental store called Dynasty – almost movie like and the hotel did well as well and was subsequently sold and became the Marriott Hotel. Mr Tang believed in training of his staff and spend lots of money just on training programs. He died at the age of 98.

The media had claimed that she was really frugal but so was her deceased husband and there were so many mystery surrounding the wealth of Teddy Wang and how the came about so much money. Nevertheless, she and her husband did make a lot of good investment as you all can see and even though loads of ransom money was paid during those kidnapping, they still had so much left.
